This scrap-bustin' do it yourself craft is a hanging kitchen towel. With this quick step by step tutorial you will be able to sew a kitchen towel with a tab at the top that can be used to fold over and attach to a drawer pull, oven door or towel rail. These hanging towels are perfect, the hanging tab allows the towel to stay in place. Let's have some fun!
you a technique to help transform the neckline of ANY Ellie and Mac
pattern. Many of them come with neckbands. While neckbands are a quick
and neat way to finish a knit garment, I find that sometimes I desire a
different look for the finish. This was the case when I made my first Breezy top.
I decided I wanted to omit the neckband, but I did not want the bodice
lined either, because I was using French Terry. A facing was the perfect
compromise, and I have used this technique in various other patterns
These days I keep quite a few screenshots of items of clothing that I like. I keep them as inspiration. I recently took these screenshots:
I came across these while testing for the High Hopes Dolman Top by Ellie & Mac.
Immediately I was reminded of one of the previous tests I participated in, that of the Lucky Girl Top by Ellie & Mac.
I’m in love with having pockets on my clothes (who isn’t?) and now, so is my daughter! She’s 22 months, and when I get her dressed in the morning she is searching for “pockee.” Taking this into consideration, I now have to make sure to add pockets to any outfit that I make for her. I have made in seam pockets, welt pockets, and applique pockets without a pattern, and my plan over the next two of my blogs is to teach you the same thing!
- how to measure your sidewaist
- how to calculate the adjustments to make to the pattern pieces
- how to adjust the pattern pieces
After reading this blog, you will be able to adjust your romper, and therefore any pattern, to your own sidewaist. And this is really great stuff to learn, because every body has their own measurements. Some of us have a long torso, some of us short one. And when you adjust your pattern pieces to your height, it is very helpfull to know if you need to adjust the bodice, the legs or both for height.
Sewing clothing is a lot of fun, and it gets better if you can make labels for your designs. Having a pretty label with your name or the cloth’s description will give your handmade clothing an authentic feel. You can choose to use ready-made labels or make your own.
Ready-made labels come in different designs, colors, shapes, and sizes. You may also decide to buy a tag from a store that custom makes them so that you can have something that resonates with your style.
