When people hear that I run a sewing pattern company, they usually imagine me at the sewing machine all day, surrounded by fabric and thread. The truth? Most of my time is actually spent sitting at my computer—drafting patterns, creating graphics, answering emails, editing tutorials, and connecting with our amazing sewing community. As much as I love this work, it means a lot of hours in a chair.
That’s why I recently added something new to my home office: the Wellfit TM020 Walking Pad Treadmill with Desk.
This little treadmill has been such a game-changer! It’s compact enough to fit in my sewing space, and the desk attachment lets me answer emails, draft pattern notes, or schedule newsletters—all while getting some steps in. Instead of long stretches of sitting, I can now walk at a slow pace while tackling those necessary (but less glamorous) parts of running a sewing business.
Here are a few benefits I’ve noticed:
-
More energy: Even 20–30 minutes of walking while working gives me a boost that keeps me focused.
-
Less stiffness: My neck and shoulders feel better from breaking up the sitting time.
-
Productivity win: Walking helps me think through creative ideas for patterns and tutorials.
And for those who love the details, here are a few key specs:
-
Max weight capacity: 350 lbs
-
Speed range: 1–7.6 mph (fully adjustable for strolling or brisk walking)
-
Incline: 0–5% (great for a little extra challenge when you want it!)
If you sew, you already know how easy it is to get caught up in a project and forget to move for hours. This treadmill is helping me balance the behind-the-scenes computer work with a bit of fitness—without needing extra time in the day.
It’s been such a helpful addition that I wanted to share it with you, too. If you’re curious about the one I use, you can check it out here: Wellfit Walking Pad Treadmill (affiliate link) and use code EAMWellFit to save $20.
Staying active while doing what we love? That feels like a win-win. 💕
