Sew Your Own Zippered Scrunchie

Sew Your Own Zippered Scrunchie

Hello everybody,

Here is Lesley alias Frullemieke from the blog https://frullemieke.blogspot.com again.
Today I'm going to show you how to make the Ellie and Mac FREE Scrunchie with a zipper, ideal for the young ones to hide money and other small items ;-)

First of all you need fabric, a small zipper and the pattern.

If you don't have a small zipper you can always make one smaller with needle and thread.

As you can see, I took a few extra inches to make the scrunchie a little bigger and have a little more seam allowance to accommodate the zipper properly.
I also cut off the pieces at the beginning and ending of the zipper.

Pin the zipper with right side to the right side of the fabric and sew 1 side in place

Do the same with the other side of the zipper.

Now sew the rest of the fabric with a little more seam allowance than said in the tutorial.

For the rest you can follow the tutorial, you don't need to keep an extra hole for turning as you can use the hole of the zipper as a turning hole, leave the zipper open.

You can also add the elastic through the zipper.

And voila, your scrunchie with secret pocket is ready :-)
