10 Minute Gift Bag Sewing Pattern

I'm very new to sewing, this is the third thing I've ever sewn! I appreciate how this pattern was very easy to follow and the YouTube video helped a lot too!

At first, you may look at the pattern and think, "It's just a square!" But what you're really paying for are the detailed instructions on the multiple ways you can turn those squares into beautiful gift bags. My friends were thrilled to see these on my sewing table and are already choosing which ones they hope to get at Christmas.

I made my first 10 minute gift bag to hold a special Christmas present for my granddaughter. When I was putting all the paper from the other gifts in the recycling on Boxing Day I thought what a waste it was, and how much cotton Christmas fabric I have in my stash. I now have 22 gift bags in production! The pattern is so simple and so adaptable! I’ve increased or decreased the length and width to use up as much of the small pieces as possible.

These bags were a big hit for family and friends this year! I heard “You made this?” More than once!

This is a fantastic pattern and gives you a range of sizes. Quick and easy to sew.

A great bag, I did my first fully lined but successive ones I’ve just used the facing, uses a lot less fabric and it’s just as useful.

It isn't a hard pattern but there is a learning curve to lining up the slits and feeding the ribbon through. It was easier to use plain cotton vs. flannel and it was easier to use a bigger pattern as the smallest one is fiddly with narrow ribbon. I will make several of these for all the occasions through the year needing wrapping. Making it reversible will allow it to be used for multiple types of gifts. (christmas, birthday, easter, valentines, etc)

The idea of this is extremely clever. A wonderful way to not waste paper

Have not yet made these bags but looking forward to giving it a try .

I haven’t used this yet, but the instructions look clear and easy to follow. My only wish is that the measurements were included so you could simply cut with a rotary cutter. Then you wouldn’t need to print out all of the pattern pieces.

I made several of these bags for Christmas gifts. It is like giving an extra gift. Loved giving them, all recipients loved getting them. They are great for mailing gifts. Will be making many more in the future.
