I had wanted to make my son this style of pants and found these pants just when I was about to draft my own pattern. My son loves these pants and chooses them first whenever they are fresh from thewash. I added elastic inside the waistband to keep them on his narrow hips.
These are great boy pants, but made some for my daughter for school, and they’re my favorite. Kids love pockets and these are comfy!

Made these for a slim 8yo boy.
Pattern went together easily.
Used serger for the whole job so my seams were bigger than 1/4" more like 5/8"
To cut out and sew took less than an hour.
Made size 7 waist.
Widened the legs slightly.
Next time I will make the lower leg even wider.
Probably make elastic waist instead of band.
