Kids Duchess Jacket Sewing Pattern

So cute !
It turned out so cute ! Made it for my grand daughter and she loves it especially since it has twirl factor ! Made out of black corduroy and a purplish pink crushed velvet lining . For more warmth in our usually snow packed Utah weather.

Le montage est abordable. A mon sens, il manque quelques repères d'assemblage. J'ai fait quelques finitions à ma façon. Le résultat final en vaut la peine et ma fille récolte beaucoup de compliments. Elle est très fière de le porter. Je réfléchis pour l'acquisition du patron adulte pour coudre un duo mère et fille.

I went straight to this jacket after learning how a pdf pattern works. It was so easy following along with the tutorial on you tube. Diana has helped me learn so much.

My daughter is in love with this pattern. It's the only coat she accept to wear.
I Sew it in wool, softshell and my last one is in softshell with a liner in fleece. I Sew a hood with fur and a Big bow in the back.

This was a fun coat to sew I modified by adding a hood. I've gotten soo many compliments! Made a beautiful Christmas jacket!

I was a little scared when I first undertook to make this. I’ve never made a proper jacket before, but what the heck, right? I’ve been sewing clothes and things forever, so this seemed a logical next step, and every little girls dream coat. The most difficult thing about this was cutting it out, cuz genius that I am, I made it in plaid. Matching plaids. Super smart. Other than that, this coat went together like one of those wooden kids puzzles! So easy! Directions were clear and easy to understand, the pattern pieces are simple and easy to use. Altogether one of the best pattern purchases I’ve ever made!

So did my 7 year old granddaughter.
Found some fab dinosaur fleece fabric at my local sewing shop. Decided this would be substantial enough for the coat not to need lining. So, I only made the “outer coat” - so, just one stage of the coat.
The pattern pieces download easily and stick together better than others I have purchased elsewhere online. Can totally recommend this.
My first time making a coat so I added a bit more for the crossover to ensure the coat was warm and didn’t have any gaps. Also, added an inside button and loop of elastic to hold the under crossover straight at the waist Being a long fleece fabric coat it was weighty and so would have sagged.
Cut the age 8 as I have a tall 7 year old (I had read in other reviews/comments that some people had made their coat too small) so erred on the side of caution. I needn’t have worried - the coat was plenty big enough with growing room - what we all want when making kids clothes!
Also made the Duke coat for my grandson- fab too.
