This pattern was drafted for our Curvy Fit Size Chart that is drafted for the height of 5’5”/165.10 cm. The instructions include steps for adjusting the pattern for height differences if needed.
Fabric Recommendation:
This pattern was designed to be made using fabrics with 50% 4-way stretch knit fabrics with a nice drape and good recovery.
Flowy fabrics with drape with a good recovery work best. For example: DBP, Rayon Viscose, Rayon Spandex, etc. Cotton Lycra fabrics can work too, but be really careful with the drape and weight.

I made this a 2-way stretch cotton jersey. I had 2m of the fabric but it was 1.8m wide and I just managed to squeeze the dress out of it. (I have joins in the skirt at the back.) I used plain white cotton jersey to line the bodice. I have a 9" side waist so I added an inch to the length of the bodice. I fall into the LG size range except for my above bust measurement which is SML. This seemed to indicate that I needed to do an FBA which I've never done before. I tried to adjust the pattern piece but it just didn't look right to me so I just made a straight LG. The fit was great except the shoulders were a bit wide. I trimmed them back and will grade the pattern in that area next time. I wore my dress that evening after I finished it and received lots of compliments. :-)
I absolutely love this dress. I chose the ruched neckline option with the bishop sleeves and it's amazing. Perfect fit!

I absolutely love the Diana dress I have made myself 4 of them in different colours and styles I currently have 5 on order for my family and friends but I busy sewing up the baby sleep sack which I’m also in love with. In fact Ellie and Mac is my favourite all round price ideas versatility 😜
Like every Ellie & Mac pattern, the Diana is easy to follow and amazingly written. The finished product is so cute. It's not my usual style but I couldn't resist it. I made a peplum length top for my first attempt and the fit is perfect.
I used Ellie and Mac for the first time and I think the Diana dress is fabulous.
I believe this might be my fastest make after purchasing a pattern. I have already made 2 of the 3 versions (a dress and top). I have another all cut out ready to sew. The directions are excellent and if you are a little lost look for the youtube sew alongs. Your finished item will get all the interest. Every time I wear one of these makes people ask me where I purchased the dress.
The range of sizes and all the different looks you can achieve with just this one pattern are amazing. Change the neckline, change the sleeves, change the length - it is perfection.
