The perfect bag!

This bag was perfect for my recent trip to London. I particularly wanted one that had an apartment on the back of the bag plus a bag that would be across my body and this fit the criteria perfectly. The pattern is well thought out with detailed instructions. I didn't have a magnetic press stud for the front pocket but will definitely get one for the next bag. I found a dog lead in a charity shop that I used for the strap which worked well.

I did view the video before sewing together. Together the written instructions and video were detailed so I could complete my bag.

My best seller !!

It’s convient, it’s small, and it holds all the essentials. Pair it with the back hidden pocket and it’s easily the most requested bag from my customers.

This is a brilliant pattern!

This is a brilliant pattern! It has all the pockets and details you could want. I am not very experienced in bag making and the instructions are very clear and easy to follow, the sew along video is also extremely helpful and takes you step by step with the construction process. As a result I made a bag that I am very proud of and it is now in use every day.I am sure that I will make more with this pattern and may try some of the other bag patterns too.

My new everyday bag

I was so excited to sew this bag pattern. I was intimidated, I won't lie. But the video tutorial provided along with the great pattern instructions got me through it. I made lots of mistakes, (my own lack of experience) but in the end it is a bag I am proud to use and tell others that I made it.

I've got it all cut out and ready to sew!

I've got it all cut out and ready to sew! Its going to be a lovely deep blue with a floral lining just like the picture. I'm making it for a friend who is giving it to her daughter in law. If she likes it I can see making more for her other Daughters and Daughters in law!

Darling small crossbody bag - not for beginners!

This is a darling small crossbody bag. The instructions are very good but it is not for the beginner! I have made over 10 bags, most from a company which specializes in bag patterns. I decided to make my Callie bag with cork, (no interfacing needed) with a quilt-cotton lining. The cork is very thick so I discovered that my sewing machine would not sew through all the layers of cork AND lining AND binding needed to finish the inside according to the Callie bag instructions. I was able to use a technique from the bag pattern company to sew the lining inside out and turn the bag through the open bottom of the back zipper pocket. It was challenging due primarily to the narrowness of the gusset but it worked and I will definitely enjoy the bag. If I made more of them I would probably use a durable cotton/canvas fabric which is thinner than the cork or a foam-backed light-weight fabric.

Hi there,

Thank you so much for your thoughtful review—we really appreciate you taking the time to share your experience, and your Callie bag sounds absolutely beautiful!

You’re absolutely right that fabric choice can make a big difference in how a project comes together. Cork is a gorgeous option, but it can be quite thick—especially when combined with lining and binding layers—which can make certain steps more challenging depending on the machine.

For this pattern, we do recommend medium to heavy-weight woven fabrics like canvas, denim, or vinyl, as they tend to work more smoothly with the construction methods used. It sounds like you did an amazing job adapting the process and problem-solving along the way—that’s no small feat!

We design our patterns to be approachable for confident beginners by including detailed, step-by-step instructions along with full sew-along videos for extra guidance, but we also love seeing experienced sewists like you make them your own.

Thank you again for sharing your insight—it’s incredibly helpful for others considering their fabric choices. We hope you get lots of use out of your finished bag!

Hi! Yes, absolutely — we have two short zipper videos that should help with this step:

Zipper video 1: https://youtube.com/shorts/z7vCqWu1s80?si=i4o8glNTpTWqsjIi

Zipper video 2: https://youtube.com/shorts/hmijHPtFUOo?si=pEOISDwQPv0it3Vi

I know zippers can feel intimidating when you’re new, but once you see it done, it makes so much more sense. You’ve got this!
