Essential Dolman Dress
Just the pattern I had been looking for, to learn how to make a waistband casing. I love it, very clear instructions and an easy dress to complete. Very pleased, slight alteration with the sleeves, made a cuff showing the right side of fabric. Lovely comfortable garment you can dress up or down.

I made a white dress and a neighbour painted the ginger cat on for a fancy dress it looked fab
As with all Ellie & Mac patterns this is amazing value and includes patterns for a straight dolman dress and two piece which joins together with elastic or drawstrings.
Plus you can also use the pattern pieces to make separates. Now on to the hate part for me. I don't think this dress suits me and is quite unflattering on me without added accessories. That being said it's a beautiful dress for so many and I'm sure I'll use the pattern again to make some cute tops and skirts.
This pattern is incredibly easy to grade and to hack. I find myself needing to transition to a loungewear and casual wardrobe for use much of the year and this pattern is beautiful as created (and I’m working on a dress) but also not too difficult to redefine as desired.
The patterns print well and they are ao cute! Cant wait to make this dress!

Easy to sew. I used bamboo Lycra for my dress and it came up rather larger than I expected so I needed a belt/tie to cinch the waist.

I sew this pattern using the top a cotton lycra and the skirt of blue jersey. It was super easy an beautiful finished. I feel very confortable on my new dress. I will make more soon.
This is such an easy pattern to sew. My favourite part is it doesn't has a lot of pieces. The instructions are also easy to follow, even for a beginner.

Love this pattern as it is so versatile . Straight or tie in at the waist . The top part can easily be made into a top . Love the cuffs too.

Do I need a serger machine or can I use a regular single needle singer sewing machine? I'm loving your pattern ideas, but before I commit I'd like to make sure I don't need an expensive machine to make a couple dresses.
Hi Kim! That is a great question. You do not need a serger to sew our patterns. You can use a stretch stitch with a regular sewing machine. A walking foot is helpful when sewing with stretch fabrics, but it isn't required.
