Wave Rider Rash Guard Set & Swimsuit Sewing Pattern

I found the instruction video for this when looking for help with a zipper and really liked the look of the swimsuit for winter swimming. I'm a relative sewing novice but the brilliant instruction video meant that I have finished a really fun, wearable swimsuit that drew lots of compliments 😊. A challenging sew for me but so happy with the result. Thank you!

Loved the instructions with photos of each step. Absolutely loved the videos for adjustments and instructions. It took some time to tweak my pattern to my measurements but so worth it for the most comfortable fit. I did find it odd that there was a video for trunk adjustments but no table of measurements in order for me to adjust the trunk correctly. I ended up just guessing the adjustment amount based on the video. Overall, this swimsuit was more time consuming than other patterns I would sew but the end result is WOW! Now I don't have to spend so much time putting on suncream!

I made the sleeveless one piece suit with his pattern. I used the helpful youtube video attached to the instructions to easily lengthen the torso. I am very active in the water, and have a large chest and this suit was the most comfortable one I've ever worn. It stayed in place all day, supported my chest without giving me a squished uniboob, and the wider amount of fabric on the shoulders was a nice break from normal swimsuit straps digging into my shoulders. I am already planning several new versions of this suit, and have been recommending the pattern to all the sewists I know. Highly recommend.

I have made both the one piece, and the two-piece rash guard and bottom. Very easy to follow the great instructions. I find watching the video instructions for all the Ellie and Mac patterns I have made very helpful.

My first ever "swimwear" make.. It was very easy to follow along with the help of the video tutorial.. I've made 3 zip swimsuits 1 rash guard and 4 hacked crops.. Just in time for summer .. I love this pattern

I sewed the 2 piece swim set; sleeveless top and lined bottoms.
I measure and made small. Decided to line the front & if necessary later on make a separate bra/bikinni top instead of including a shelf bra.

My machine had difficulty with joining the seams where there was double elastic + fabric. This took 4 attempts to get the side seams acceptable. I also had to unpick the waist elastic also as I didn’t feed it through ‘the packet’ before trying to attach. Then it was easy.
Tested in the pool: Pants were a good fit and comfy but would benefit from topstitching. Top fitted well though flapped up at the front when wet. Perhaps needs to be narrower/smaller or have elastic round the bottom? I tucked it in the pants & it was fine.

Overall very pleased with my first attempt at swimwear. Might consider making the one piece next.
