You will love how this design looks and how the choice of fabric can take it from casual to dressy.

It is a quick sewing project and I am sure, like my testers, you will find yourself making many to fill your closet.

A brilliant top to hack

Another great pattern from my favourite supplier. Had found a very expensive top online and figured I could use the petal top to make it. Worked brilliantly

Petal top patterm

So far I have only made one for my daughter. Easy to make and she is loving it. Have the material to make another two.

Very comfy and easy to construct

I love that the patterns are no trim printouts so you just need to tape them together.

The pattern turned out great and I am very happy with my new top, I will definitely be making more in different fabrics.

Bubba is wearing her matching beat-box onesie which is also a pattern from Ellie and Mac

Tee shirt façon pétale

J'adore le concept façon pétale, facile à réaliser avec un tissu jersey
à fleurs et l'autre assortie sans fleurs.
et je vais en refaire d'autres.
Je suis ravie de mon travail.

D-I-L - first grandchild

Turned out super cute and comfy for my daughter=in-law's first pregnancy. Used super stretchy fabric for the undershirt so she can breastfeed. May make her a sleeveless version for summer!

Turned out great! First time I've ever finished a pattern before receiving the email to review it!

Such a great sew

I was hesitant on sewing up the Petal Top with the upside down crossover but it was easier than I thought it would be. Since I'm 37 weeks pregnant I based my size off my bust measurement and it turned out to be a good decision. It fits great even with my growing belly. I used a double brushed poly for the main fabric and a burnout jersey as the front panel. I love it so much!
However, I do have two complaints about the pattern. I really, really dislike working with a 1/4" seam allowance. I usually have to add the extra seam allowance when I'm tracing the pattern to at least have 3/8".
My other complaint is that the armscye is cut a little too curvy and makes the top bunch a little in a certain area. I've altered my pattern piece to fix it but I haven't made a second top yet but I will soon. My little complaints aren't enough to keep me from making several more Petal Tops or stop using Ellie and Mac patterns. I've been buying E&M patterns for years and will continue to do so but I do hope they give us more seam allowance in the future.

Nice nursing top <3

Very comfortable. I am quite a beginner in sewing, e.g. made neckband/armband first time in my life :D but I am satisfied with the result :) Thank you for the pattern ♡

Great alternative to a plain tank top!

This pattern was easy to follow and sew. I love the fit and the dressier style. I don’t need it for nursing but love the layers. I will definitely be making more of them. I made this one out of French terry for the sunflowers and butter for the yellow under layer.

For My Daughter

Easy until I get to the neckline. Necklines and me are having issues. I made this for my youngest daughter she is due In December. Will be making more for her and 1 for myself.

The Ellie and Mac Petal Top for the WIN!

The petal top is by far one of my favorite E&M patterns yet. I made mine as a light flowing tank. I have worn It more times than I can count this summer. It is definitely one of my favorites.

I can’t wait to make it in a heavier fabric with sleeves for the fall. If you are having a hard time deciding whether or not to get this pattern I say you should GO FOR IT.

Maternity

I gave my daughter a bit of extra room in the sides to accommodate her pregnant belly. The only thing that didn’t work, and this would have happened even if I hadn’t adjusted the front waist, were the shoulders. I sewed the sleeved view and there was no special cut line at the armscye for the sleeved version. They were way too narrow as they were drafted for a tank. The sleeve cap was way too narrow and looks uncomfortable although I have only seen it in photos.

If I were to do another sleeved version, I would mash another top With the petals. But it works quite well as a maternity top that she will be able to use for a while as a nursing top after baby comes, while she is getting her waist back.

Special, cute and practical top

Well, I like to make myself some nursing tops that don't look like pregnancy clothes, and that I can wear after this special time. And this is all that! Very cute, and something else :) very feminine. I made one with long sleeves, and had enough fabric for a second one without sleeves (I flipped the armbands in for the tank version as it came too high for me in the armpit). Easy to make, very good instructions. Thanks!

Easy sew for color blocking

I made this top for my niece who just had a baby. She loved the color blocked plaid sleeves.

Fantastic top

This top is stunning. My husband said it looked like it was store bought and he would never have guessed that I made it. I love that I can grade the pattern for my measurements.

j'ai fait ce patron mais il ne tombait pas bien, j'ai dû le défaire. Le tissu utilisé était du 4 stretch mais je crois qu'il était peut être trop épais. je ne sais pas si je vais le refaire.....

Sorry to hear that your top didn't turn out the way you hoped. I see you feel your fabric may have been too thick, I am happy to take a look and help you troubleshoot what fabric would be best. You can contact us at hello@ellieandmac.com.
