The Transformer Jacket Pattern is comfortable, stylish and definitely, a must-have for your little one.  It features hood, color-blocked bodice and side sections, long sleeves, kangaroo pockets and zip front.  The best thing about this jacket sewing pattern is that it turns into a bag that your child can wear when they no longer need the jacket.  My kids are constantly taking off their jackets while they play and asking me to hold them!  This pattern is the perfect solution to that never-ending problem!

Kids transformer jacket

Great idea! A jacket that becomes a bag! My nephew loves it... and spend the most of his time transorming it 😅 The instructions are well explained and quite easy to follow (just paying attention not to mix pieces 😉) I recommend and I'll do some more for my other nephews! And by the way, I lined the hood cause my fabric was realy ugly on the wrong side 😅

Great pattern

Decided to try this for my daughter. I didn't do the bag, but it was easy enough to put together ignoring the bag instructions. It also gave me a chance to try out my new serger too ☺️☺️ I only started sewing properly in Aug/Sept and was a nice learning curve with a fabulous end product! I even lined the hood 😃😃😃😃

So much fun!

I made one of these for my daughter and nephews. I skipped all the extra pockets to save time, fabric, and bulk. They turned out amazing! I subbed the Aubrey Twirl hood for my daughter

Great idea with some small construction changes

I made this sweatshirt as a birthday present. It went over really well...the birthday girl loved it and her parents did, too. It was not a super quick sew, just because there are a lot of parts to cut out and assemble, but it was definitely worth it. The only things I will change the next time I make it are the construction of the pieces for the straps at the bottom of the bag (small tabs to the side instead of triangular corners) and I will install the zipper BEFORE I sew on the hood so that I can shorten the zipper and hide the ends within that seam. I will also take the advice given in the pattern to use wash-away wonder tape while attaching the zipper. I had a little trouble matching the upper seam while installing the zipper (my fault). Using the tape and some lightweight interfacing should make it better.

I made this for my granddaughter. She loves it. It has a lot of steps but easy to do! I lined her hood with minkie!

Such a great tip

I’ve now made 4 of these and I love the pattern. I made them in sweatshirt material and I only have a sewing machine , so I did struggle with multiple layers and I ended up removing some of the hidden pockets. I really loved the use of wash away tape to hold the zip in place before sewing. I’m definitely using this again. In fact I’ve already used this tape to hem the sleeves and bottom edges of two rash guards I’ve just made. Such a great tip.

Such a fun jacket

Kids absolutely loved their transformer jackets. They never want to take it off! It's a bit tricky to put together because there are a lot of pieces but the tutorial makes it a breeze.
