I really enjoyed making this for my little grandson so I made him another! Such a classic, I know I’ll be repeating it again and again as he grows.
My 8yo loves this shirt, I have made him 2 so far. The instructions for placket are easy to follow.
The placket was difficult to install with it being in two pieces. I had to do it a different way using one piece, much easier to install and not as bulky. Otherwise, the pattern was great and the neck band was especially so easy to sew on.

The pattern instructions when it comes to the placket are unclear and the photos aren't a great help as the fabric in the photos is black. I had to follow a YouTube tutorial to nail down the placket technique. Also, the tapered finish on the collar where it meets the placket is difficult to follow.

Overall it was easy, but I had a little trouble with some puckering on the button part. I inquired on the FB page and got a quick personal message explaining what I needed to do to fix it. I will definitely make this shirt again!
Who knew you could make a top in this style that could look so well made. The video that accompanies this pattern is well worth watching. I did find the placket instructions didn't seem quite right but I soon figured it out. I have made 2 and hope to make more. Plan on making long sleeve versions for the winter. Have given 4 stars not 5 because of the placket instructions.

I privately still consider myself to be a new sewist, so I was really apprehensive having promised results. I finally sat myself down Halloween weekend (yes, last fall) and I'm so happy I did! This pattern was easy to assemble and complete. I never felt I didn't have the next step in construction, and nothing in the instructions was confusing. I ended up using five different fabrics for super cool looks. I got rad reviews. That was pretty rad!

It’s an almost perfect pattern except for a few things. The placket instructions are kind of confusing and the pocket has two pattern pieces but as far as I can tell you only use one of them. Otherwise it’s a great pattern.

Whilst I love this pattern I did find the placket challenging and made it three times on scrap fabric before risking it on my new stuff. I am by no means a novice sewer. I experimented and found that the button placket itself needs a very thin woven fabric in order to get a neat finish. Eventually, I used a little piece of cotton lawn. I also looked at quite a few videos as there are different approaches to constructing the placket. This done, the jersey neckband was an easy (and perfect!) fit. To be honest, I think I will do another couple of these to get a better finish and be happy with them.
I love this top! So cute and easy pattern to follow, only thing I couldn’t really figure out was the collar where it ends in the middle 😂 but I think that’s more user error more than anything. Thank you so much!! I will be making a ton of these 😍
