So easy and fun to make

I got these to make for my friends kiddos. I saw the duchess coat and fell in love with it, then saw the duke and knew I couldn’t make one just for the little girl! The boys needed one too! So, thus, both patterns. Muuuuuuch easier to make than I anticipated. So quick and simple! The fabric yardage was waaaay over though. I used 60” fabric and bought 2 yards for the size 10. I got both a 6 and a 10 and still had some fabric left over. Totally worth it though to actually make the matching coats!!
The pocket welts were a little tricky, but over all really nice patterns.

Duke Jacket

Cute pattern. I was a bit stymied at first because I hadn't made a welt pocket & the differently sized front pieces were new to me. However, I finally got it figured out. Also I had quilted the lining & interlining for a little more warmth. My grandson loved his new jacket!

Awesome jacket for costume

This was my first go at a jacket. I made it for a Halloween costume and it was a huge hit! Now to make some more in other bases.

Duke PDF pattern

Hi, Have not used Ellie and Mac before and purchased the Duke and the Duchess coat patterns for my two little grandchildren.
Fab patterns, easy to follow and good sizing. Had to take a guess at sizes so went by age and was very pleased with the way they turned out. Went for a fleece lined fabric for both as I wanted the coats to be warm and yet roomy enough for layering up underneath. Duke coat came up trumps
Went for elastic loops and wooden toggles as buttons are fiddly for 3 year olds. He can squeeze himself into it without any unfastening - just what the childminder loves independence!
Very pleased with these two patterns and would totally recommend them and the twirly dress too!

Amazing

I was a bit daunted when I first bought this pattern but decided to take the plunge and try it out. I thought adding the fun inside would make it extra appealing for my son and he loves it. The pattern was really well explained so I didn't really have anything to worry about. :-)

Very chic and fun sew

The coat is impressive looking but easy to make with the help of Diana's YouTube tutorial. Thanks for another amazing pattern.

A family fave

I made this after falling in love with it and made my little girls one (size 18 months) first and then my sons one (size 12). I watched the video with the first, and the instructions with the 2nd. I'm cutting out a third for my middle child now. I used wool blend outer; knit inner. A quick and easy sew (once you learn how to do those pockets, that is). My children get the joy of picking their fabric and buttons.

Lovely pattern/instructions, 10-14 sizing proportions not great.

Pattern and instructions were great. Unfortunately, the larger sizes 10+ have extremely narrow back/shoulders. My kid is really lean and long; he fits in most off-the-shelf shirts. I had to drastically open up the back, lengthen the shoulders, and redraw the arm hole If I had looked closer at pics with older kids, I would have seen the shoulder seam is in the incorrect place. That said, I absolutely LOVED how the lining was put into the jacket and the instructions were perfect.

Easier than I thought

I made this to my grandson who is 10 months old. Used an old wool blend fabric that was in my stash forever and quilting cotton for the lining. Skipped the tabs but added the pockets just for fun. It turned out perfect! Grandson loves it! The video was very helpful.

Easy to follow instructions

The Duke jacket pattern was so easy to follow, the instructions were clear and beginner friendly. Even buttonholes were easy to mark out and do- I hadn't had the confidence to try buttonholes before this pattern

Very disappointed.

I took ages to make and line this jacket for my grandson. The proportions are way off, the shoulders are much too narrow and there is no way to rectify the garment to fit him. A waste of time effort and material.

Duke is cute.

Easy advance beginner. I made it into a vest, no plackets or buttons. Made patch pockets for quicker assembly.

Even a beginner can sew a coat!

I was so impressed - I sewed a coat! Such great instructions talk you through every step. Made it really straightforward to sew - even the welt pockets.

Baby coat

This is a lovely pattern. I made it from a woven fabric and used fleece for the lining. I didn’t make the pockets as it is for a baby. I used press studs for fastening as buttonholes were difficult through all the layers. Photo available if required.
