I sewed it in french terry. I loved how fast it came together. But the sizing is a little big so I have to downsize it next time. The neck circle and the arm binding is too big for me. But is is also very comfortable, I like it very much!
This was such a quick and satisfying sew. Great instructions and I have 2 more to cut and sew! Great pattern. You may even need to size down, lots of ease in this pattern.
I grew up in the 80s and Batwing tops were all the rage. Wearing this top brings back all the memories of those young years, dancing to Madonna and Wham. It's like wrapping myself in happy.
Making this top couldn't be easier. With just 2 pattern pieces and 5 bands it makes up quickly and a quick make always makes me smile. There are different neck options, and my favourite is the boat neck. I've made 3 of these already and I have no doubt I will make many many more.

I have just made 2 tonight and I love how baggy their top is. Love how easy it is to sew and have beginner friendly it is. I could have sized down a bit but I think I can get away with it
I'm still a learning sewist and I found this pattern super easy to follow. The sizing does fit a little big. I made myself a large and it was too big even though that is where the measurements put me. I made a medium and it fits wonderful. I added pockets from the Colour Block Hoodie pattern. Made one for my sister and it's her new fave for work! Photo is of her wearing a the XXS. I can't wait to make a bunch more for work and casual!

Super comfy and easy to make, the perfect pattern for beginners!
It was easy and fun to make, but I knew I wouldn’t like the wide neck, so I tried to alter the pattern to raise it up - it was quite successful. I would love some patterns with a higher neckline, please for the over 70s!
I made the high hopes this weekend for the first time - what a lovely pattern it is! Simple to trace and cut and as always the instructions are super easy to follow.
I only had 2-way stretch fabric instead of the recommended 4-way, but it still turned out really well and has a lovely drape. I did find the waistband, neck binding and cuffs a little tricky to add as the edges kept curling in on themselves as you have to stretch them as you sew - I suspect this could have been because it was only 2 way stretch rather than 4. But as long as nobody looks too closely at the neckline it won't notice!
I will definitely be making more of these!
I’ve already made this top three times! I made it with a Cable knit fabric the first time, it did come up slightly larger than expected but still nice and cosy. I then altered it slightly to make a higher neckline and made it with some thinner knit fabric which I love. Then the third time I altered it even more making the bat-wing section smaller, the sleeves longer with a shorter cuff and added a cowl neck to the top. This pattern is so versatile I absolutely love it
My first ever Ellie and Mac make, my first ever stretch make, and my first time using an overlocker! I love the outcome so much. Easy to cut and simple lines to sew. The video sew along made stretching the cuffs and bands so easy. Will be making more!
